NXL 5V5 RULES

First-Time Spectator Guide
NXL PRO IS A 5-ON-5 TEAM SPORT
Two teams start on opposite ends of the field.
Team will switch sides of the field after every points scored.
SPLIT DECK
Two game are being played at the same time.
After every point scored the other game will play a point. This is to give teams more time between their points to refill their air, paint, and get the next game plan from their coach.
POINTS AND SCORING
-
Matches are made up of multiple points.
-
Teams play point after point until the match clock runs out.
-
Each point is worth one score.
-
The team with the most points wins the match.
-
Think of it as a fast-paced, point-based game played against the clock.
A team scores by eliminating the opposition and/or hitting the buzzer at the opponent’s start station.
-
Team can also score if the opposing team decides to concede a point. Usually this is done if a team has a low chance of winning a point and wants to preserve time.
PLAYER ELIMINATION AND PENALTIES -
A player is out when a paintball breaks on them or their gear.
Once hit, that player must leave the field immediately.
-
Penalties can quickly change a point.
If a player keeps playing after being hit or breaks a rule, their team may lose additional players.

BREAKOUTS AND FIELD MOVEMENT
-
Every point starts with a breakout.
-
At the horn, players sprint to bunkers to gain position and set up shots.
-
Bunkers are the players’ cover. Teams use them to stay protected, communicate, and move up the field.
-
Field position matters. The farther a team advances, the more pressure it can put on the other side.
-
Communication is constant. Players are always talking, calling positions, and tracking who is still alive.
-
One quick swing can change everything. A penalty, a key elimination, or a strong move up the field can turn the point instantly.
WHAT TO WATCH FOR -
Which team has more players alive.
-
Which team has better field position.
-
Who is controlling the pace.
-
When a team makes its move to finish the point.
-
THE EASIEST WAY TO UNDERSTAND NXL PRO 5V5 GAMES
-
Break out fast
-
Win positions
-
Eliminate players
-
Hit the buzzer
-
Reset and do it again
